Welcome to My Baking Passions!
Sweet Potato Pie One of my favourite dishes. Creamy lightly sweet filling and a crisp pie crust. Click here for the recipe! |
I remember my first time baking was with my mom when she taught me how to make Papa's cake. It was a very simple sponge cake yet somehow it has a strong sweet aroma of eggs and butter that always flows into the air before it is out of the oven.
My favourite part about making this cake was seeing grainy flour turn into a gooey paste, like magic, just with the addition of some milk and eggs. Then, the 6-years old me would always stall right in front of the oven from the first minute to watch the cake rise and turn golden brown. Best of all was to watch the steam trapped within the air bubbles of the cake to rise into my face and I would take the first bite that always burns my tongue.
I know. You're supposed to wait for the cake too cool so it would retain its shape and blah blah blah..... but try to convince that 6-years old me.
I did not care.
